Bridge bearings are exposed to mechanical and thermal stresses. The combination of these two loads creates a multi-axial state of stress that can be described, for example, by combined compression and shear tests. For the selection of suitable bearings, appropriate design parameters are required. In addition, recurring tests are necessary for quality control and certification of the bearings. For this purpose, FORM+TEST developed a testing machine for precisely this biaxial load, even under the required operating temperatures.
