Compression Crush Test

Compression crush tests differ from other compression tests in the failure mode of the test specimen. For example, for thin-walled components examined, failure is not only determined by the compressive strength of the base material. Above all these thin -walled structures are packaging and containers. Materials are cardboard, plastic, composite materials and metal.

The tests, defined in various standards and regulations, serve to qualify suitable packaging material in order to ultimately prevent transport and storage damage to the product. Questions about recycling can also be answered.

The testing technology used must have the necessary size of the test space and enable homogeneous load application. The test standards show that both pressure plates can be fixed or one of the two pressure plates can be articulated. In addition, the controller must be able to record the rapid failure processes and ensure a repeatable test sequence.
