Wood – A Material with many talents and how you need to test it

For sustainable building, wood is becoming increasingly important as a material for structural components. However, this requires that the material behaviour in the design is known and can be represented by suitable models. Due to the anisotropic structure, experimental investigations are necessary to create the model. However, due to the material characteristics, this can be a challenging task for testing technology. But the test systems from FORM + TEST will make an important contribution to this.

Since wooden components have large dimensions, the testing machines are designed especially for heavy and bulky components. In addition to a large test space, sample handling should be as simple and safe as possible. A flexible test room height (> 2 m) by means of  an adjustable crosshead is practical and can help to save weight and costs as the cylinder can be equipped with a small stroke. The range of application of the machine is extended by the bending table for 3- and 4 point loads.

Perfectly matching: The control stations from FORM+TEST with the digital controller series DIGIMAXX® and the testing software ProteusMT with test modules for the relevant standards. This ensures high-precision control and accurate test results. The pump unit of  the FORM + TEST PA series turns the individual components into a test system. A soundproof cabinet also ensures optimal employee protection.
